Looking at something to disable the engine via the kill switch which is just a small toggle switch which gets turned off when the kill chord is pulled.

Anyone seen anything which will fit over/in this to stop someone simply turning the switch back on and starting the outboard?

Yuo could have a secret second switch, in parallel with first, hidden in a place where thief wont find it (unless thief reads this forum of course). Could be a key switch

(I say in parallel becuase these switches are open-circuit to run motor and are closed to disable motor)

Thanks all. The aircraft switch, surely you just flick it up and off you go? Does it lock down?

jfm, I'm a complete numpty at lectrics, is what you suggest easy to do? And after a few glasses of chardonay will I remember to switch it back on. Bad enough remembering to turn on the kill switch!!

PCUK not really worried about hot wiring, anyone who can do that on a pontoon late at night in the dark will choose another easier target!

you used to have bigger dinghies than mine, probably with external tanks. Is it not possible to have a simple G cramp, to put on the pipe, A small one would not be noticable in the dark.

I remember the problem well, folk up the Yelm, used to borrow your dinghy, to take them back to the other side. OK they would look after it and leave it tied up, with the outboard up. But you had to take the big boat up to look for it the next day. But that was only if you could get back to the big boat in the first place.
