Outboard Ignition - Points and Condenser

Odd looking prop as you said. I reckon its all bent.
This is one below has a high thrust one. Just very broad blades and a fine pitch.
I'll post your picture on iBoats.

Probably won't need new points or condensers. You can clean the points up and condensers are not expensive anyway.

Going to need a new prop though!

Is it the wrong prop that has been deliberately bent to clear the water intake?

Take a look at http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=2046328#post2046328 but wait until late tonight or tomorrow morning to see replies from the US.

I'm not sure. i thought the same as you, but have just taken these pics.

Looks quite professionally done if it is bent.

Thats the way it is apparently according to the people who know!

Pity about the coils. The rest of it looks almost unused.

New coils and a new pump impeller and I reckon youd have a nice motor there.

Hi Phil the prop ;looks pretty ordinary to me. They came as 2 blade or 3 blade with a few different pitches.
No gears you say. I find that surprising. But no gear lever on the RHS so I guess you are right. Unless it has broken off at the lever shaft. It comes out sideways from under the cowling. No I am sure you could not make a mistake about that. It is just that I havn't heard of no gears on this model. It would be difficult to stay if in gear.
As you say probably for the trash olewill

[/ QUOTE ] Look no gears or clutch (at least not on the 1968 model) SEE HERE

you need to get a tune up kit aswell as new coils. your coils because they are cracked are arching and grounding out. that happens to all older johnson/ evenrude outbords. When installing it make sure you scrape under the condensers and anywhere that is grounding to the base. also pay attention to where all the wires go aswell as the wire from the coil to the points, you need to make sure that is tucked away so it doesnt rub an any moving parts. after that she should fire right up

Thanks, but Brother-in-Law (for it was his) decided that £60 on 2 coils was a punt too far and flogged it "as is" on ebay.
He got £68 for it. Mind you, it was immaculate.
