I tried everything to get my frozen fear lever out. I even drilled a hole down the length of it and inserted a long bolt, to try to screw it out. Nothing worked.
I have a new one on the way, but in the meantime made a replacement using a length of 15mm Hep2O pipe and a few other scraps lying around.
It works perfectly, except for the hot cooling water which comes running out the end of my new gear lever and it's a bit unpleasant on your hand when changing gear.

You mean the plastic handle? There is a small bolt holding the rod coming off the handle to an arm inside which lifts the linkage when you pull the lever forward. If you have the 4 stroke it sounds like you won't be able to access that bolt without taking the power head off the leg. Otherwise its just plastic with a couple of o rings in a metal tube so shouldn't be very stuck unless maybe the aluminium has got very furred up perhaps. Just goes to show these things need maintaining and it was daft to make that impossible with the 4 stroke.

Goo Day, this is an old feed but I think is where I am. Please help
I have an old Honda BF75 7.5 hp outboard and the shift lever is frozen in the lower unit.
What is recommended to loosen the shaft.
The shifter at the top works fine when disconnected.
Thank you 🙏🏼

There is no decisive answer. Fiddle, easing oil, heat, fiddle, heat, tap, fiddle, tap , etc etc. basically the shaft is stuck in an ally casting.
