Just saw a video on youtube

Bloke basically got an old knackered engine outboard with a good gearbox/shaft etc (seen a few for sale like that!)

Removed the original engine, and fitted a lawnmower vertical shaft engine

Knackered engine outboard can be picked up for a few quid
And a knackered deck mower again can be found cheap

Honda ohc or a Briggs side valve are reliable engines in the 3 to 5hp range

Has anyone actually done this???

Was actually thinking about it, could easily make a 3~5hp one as a backup motor, and a Briggs vanguard 20~28hp for a primary outboard?
Big v twin engine, bomb proof, but can pick up a knackered ride on mower cheap (£100 or less)

Anyone got any thoughts???

(Lockdown is making me think of random projects!, have a 4.8hp hatz diesel horizontal shaft to use for something as well!)

In the east you see photos of all sorts of wonderful outboard engine lash ups with 6ft shafts/extensions. Seems we have lost the art of improvisation! I will be interested to see any efforts here.
