Hi all,

Ive got a new boat with an 8hp suzuki. My boat is a sloop, 4.35m.

It's quite tricky to control at slow speeds (canals in amsterdam are max 7.5km/h).

Has anyone used a course keeper on their outboard? and would they recommend I get one?

I'm just a bit wary at slow speeds going under bridges / parking etc, as the boat seems to go of course a bit......

thanks for any help,
Neil

I fitted one of these on my 1st boat, easy to fit but also easy to break if you don't torque the bolts correctly.

In truth I have no idea how it worked because it fell off within the 1st week of me fitting it. Its also very expensive for your intended usage, its unique feature is the ability to work at low and high speeds, which doesnt apply to you.

Much easier and cheaper to fit would be one of these:

Outboard Rudder

They work really well for your application.

Edit:

Or what he said above !
