Outboard 2 stroke ratios

mariner 4hp 2stroke

have just bought one.it started 1st time,ran for about 5 mins then after much spluttering would only run at tick over.Have cleaned out carb but still the same!Could this be fuel mix? Iput in 50:1.Does anyone have a theory?

hi i have the same problem my engine will not start after a couple of weeks the only way to get it to go is to change the plug i am on my 2nd new plug this year, do you know were the serail number is located jb
