What should i expect to get from a Mariner 175 on the back of an 18' ski boat going flat out?

Slightly different boat and engine but close comp' - Yamaha 150hp 4 st on a 25ft cabin/sports boat 22 lph @ cruising 18-20kn.

wide open 60lph @ 46kn

Tidal and open coastal waters, but wide open i think the fuel consumption would be similar if not a little more, depending on age etc...

About 11 gallons an hour for a 4-stroke, 16 for a 2-stroke.

Wind it back to about 75%. There is a dramatic fuel usage increase for the last 1/4 or so of the rev range.

My 6.5m Humber with a new 150 Optimax burns around 16-18 litres a hour at around 25 mph cruise.

blimey thats a good top end speed on a boat 25ft , what is it ? and what prop are you using ?

I thought that seemed slow! Ours does 75.

Yes it will use a heck of a lot at WOT - but how often will you cruise at that?

As said here, wind her back to 50-75% throttle and it will improve massively, and with that boat you'll still be hammering along!
