Not quite as famous as the race around the Isle of Wight, and not quite as many entries, but our lot are having slightly nicer weather conditions than what the folk in the IoW race last summer experienced..... :D

The race is sponsored by Mount Gay, and all of the participants have trackers which can be followed here - http://yb.tl/mgr2012

The smaller cruising boats started first, a few hours ago, and are now off the north end of the island - must be pretty lumpy out there, as the tradewinds are blowing lustily, a good 20 knots from the ENE.
The two On Deck yachts (Spirit of Juno and Spirit of Isis) have just started in Carlisle Bay (at the SW end of the island) - an English maxi called Idea appears to have started with them, but she seems to be heading east along the south coast - I think the rules say that you can choose which way round you want to go......

And it looks like the Catalina yacht 'Ten Seven' has retired already - she is off Six Mens, heading south.

The brigantine 'Tres Hombres' is doing well, although she is rather far out to sea - it is a close reach going up the coast, and I was told that she has all her square sails up....
