I had hoped with Brexit we could go back to using Red Diesel at 45p a litre.
 
Nimbus make some cracking boats in terms of quality, seakeeping and accommodation. Most are on shafts and many have single powerful Diesels, offering good performance, if not as good as Outdrive equipped boats, and have semi-planing hulls so will handle good speeds in the chop too.

£80k buys a nice one!

I really like the Nimbus range and intend to view one if I can get SWMBO to agree. Unfortunately her head is being turned towards the Sealine range after we viewed an S28 last weekend.

As nice as sports cruisers look we are not in the med and she will soon get the hump when you have to pull out the canvas when the wind picks up or it starts raining.. Also you shouldn't really cruise with the canopy up but I know many do..

We just came from a 26 ft sports cruiser to the MF last year for that reason.. A couple of days ago we were out when the weather turned and we had a little spit of rain for about half an hour, we just moved inside and closed the door while all around us in the anchorage were putting up bimini's and zipping in sides..
 
Another thing to think about is how safe you are walking around to bring in and put out fenders, sort out lines and the anchor. When we were looking for our current boat that was reason enough for me to discount some.

Very good point thankyou, and something most definitely to bear in mind when we are viewing! Anything with narrower side decks than our current boat would be a non-starter, and I totally and utterly refuse to buy a boat with a walk through windscreen!

I have Sealine F33 which has an interior helm to which we can retreat if the weather deteriorates . But driving from the flybridge is very much my preference.
The side decks on the F33 are not as wide as some but they are of adequate width and safe with plenty of grab rails . At sea we have the canvas around the cockpit fully in place but the flybridge canvas cover does need to be removed.
I think the Sealine S28 has adequately safe side decks - I crewed one through a lock at the weekend. We go through a lot of locks so adequately safe side decks are a must. I don't see why a S28 shouldn't be used a sea with the canopy in place ..........providing the canvas is all in place and zipped up.
 
I cruise with my covers on regularly - sometimes I'll leave the screen covers on and take the back covers off or vice versa. Covers are a pain but they do give you flexibility. On a lovely day you can take all the covers off - it feels fantastic to be so open. As good as the Nimbus is I think I'd think i'd find the lack of flexibility in that regard a pain.
