Our first year, and now we have a dilema.

Join the club

Part of being a boat owner is searching for "the one!" We are on our fourth in six seasons, although we have to stop now as I am at my running cost limit! Buy more than you need and grow into it, but check to make sure you can afford to run/meets your needs on the river or sea. Take your time choosing as it really is great fun.

As for feeling bad, well I still miss the last one because, like yours, it looked after us so well.

PS Think very carefully before leaving the Sealine brand! ;) ".... Runs for cover before torrent of abuse from Broom owners!"

PPS We looked at a Humber. Massive accommodation but an old boat in style and engines. Good at theright price ( and that one in Brighton is not) but Treat with caution. Will pm if you want to know more

Your sealine is lovely, and with the red it really stands out nicely, unlike some I have seen.

The Humber is not something we would want. I think by people posting their ideas on here we can route out the one we will consider, so it's very handy.

We have thought Sealine but no flybridge, or Broom so far.... Very typical I believe. (Before some else says it.:p)

Definately going to take our time choosing. This will be a natural thing anyway, as hubby and I allways do the positive negative till I win... :D

What make/model is your boat Honeymommy?
I am also considering an up grade from our very first boat. Its a 4 berth sports boat but as others have said before I bought the boat you will soon learn you want bigger and better. Looked over a couple at the marina recently but a bit too old fashioned for me on my budget.
PS We are on G pontoon.

What ever you end up with, make sure that it can be handled by just the two of you.
There will come a day when the thought of all the effort and palaver getting half a dozen people in the same place at once and getting underway will begin to limit your boating to a drive to the marina.
Boating needs to enjoyable and fun and when after a cruddy week at work you just suddenly want to throw few things into a bag and go a boating, something the two of you can handle will actually get used.
It will only take a couple of trips to Windsor or Hampton Court with your 42 footer when the world only appears to consist of 39ft gaps for the H,mm moments to start :)
Good luck.

It is a Sealine 305 statesman Year 1989.

It's on the hammerhead on J pontoon.

It's cheaper than fixing a Sealine outdrive...just change it!

Thing is, the slightly older boats offered way more accommodation, as they were designed before things got too silly and pointy.

The boats which offer significantly more space per foot are Aft cabin Brooms every time.
That, and the build quality are why they all command such silly prices, and why you see so few for sale, considering how many are on the River.

If it's really space you need, take a look at a few, you'll see what I mean. Updating some of the nasty interior fittings is cheap and easy...Princess and Sealine were notorious for Pink and Green interiors!!

Totally agree with that. :)

Green is fine, but Pink!!! No way.... LOL.

I have learnt very quickly that there is a definate divide in opinions on boat preference.... :D;)

Plus they are very solid comfortable boats easy to handle and sea kindly, they stay exactly where you put them, are not deflected by any light breeze the second you clear the shelter of the lock or take your hand off the wheel and have the sort of side decks and fore decks that will safely allow you to get all round the boat.
Next time you see somebody get onto a Broom watch how little it heels over, watch some other boats and see how far they tilt before eventually coming back up again.

The reason there is such a divide in opinions of boats are not always reasons of common sense, but of misplaced ideals.
