As I write this at 7:45 GMT Ellen is as Cape Horn in big seas and loads of wind. Go Ellen, go.

BTW bit like this forum except that it is not in big seas or at Cape Horn

I see they've adjusted her time ahead to 4d 2 hrs 45 mins to take into account the new record to the Horn.

Yesterday they had her at 5 days ahead...no matter I think she will still beat the record by some margin.

In the Vendee , Mike Golding now just 0.3 m off the lead as at 1000 GMT.

Come on Mike you can do it too !

Re: sad git department

i agree Chris, sitting at desk is very like being off cape horn, almost exactly the same.

After all, ellen does loads of boaty emails emails and then complains about boat-related things on the phone, thinks about whether to do this or that, then does a bit of displacement activity, some more boaty planning, and then the whole thing starts again, so what's the difference?

In fact, unlike you, she doesn't have to worry about other sort-of work related things, or how she really ought to get round to other work-related things, because all that boating, emailing about boats and complaining/worrying about boat-related stuff is actually her job. Sounds a total doddle to me

Now she is looking like a true winner, how long before Tony Blair senses a photo opportunity here.
Expect to see him in the rib as she passes the finish!

RENDEZVOUS WITH ROYAL NAVY 13 Jan 2005 - 12:04
HMS Gloucester, under the command of Commander Russ Tuppen, has rendezvoused with Ellen west of the Falklands Islands. Cdr Tuppen has spoken with Ellen and the ship is accompanying B&Q north before returning to their base at Port Stanley: "It's good to have some company!" said Ellen. "She is sailing along next to me and they are running helicopter fly pasts with the crew so they can all have a close-up look!"

Look out for some good pictures tonight!
