What on earth do you guys thinks went on here?

Its quite clear there wasn't enough official looking crew members, with nicely pressed white uniforms on deck. :)

I think Mr. Completely shouldn't have too much trouble getting a job on a 'white boat', competition doesn't look that sharp.

I have to say that that is wierd. It's not the wind making the boat do that as the wind, judging by the ensign, is blowing from the starboard side. Some kind of steering failure? Maybe the rudders are stuck hard to starboard? Engine throttle failure? Maybe the port engine is stuck in forward gear? Both of these have happened to me and it's not funny but, if this were the case, I can't think why the skipper just didn't turn both engines off and drop the hook in the channel
I can't imagine that this is driver error. Anybody driving a boat this size is likely to be a professional skipper, I would have thought

Reading the video information the poster says, "They backed into the sea wall before leaving the dock, terrorized the marina and the video picks up from there."

So the skipper had a few calamities even before deciding to bounce his way along the sea wall and then leave the channel to run aground.

I know nothing of these things, but there appears to be a lot of time for them to shut the engines down and drop the hook if there was a control problem, even before the video starts.

I think some clot has put a green notice board on the port channel marker.

The skipper exits and sees a Green sign on his starboard side, thinks he is the wrong side of a green when it is actually a red.

Didnt see the concrete block starboard quarter.
gets out the mess but still trys to go the wrong side of the port channel marker as he thinks it is a green marker due to the green notice board on it.
He then runs aground as he hits the training wall.

Lowerstoft council decorated a small pavilion at their port pier head in bright blue/green lights, 10 times as bright as the red harbour lights, I nearly smashed into the harbour wall late one night because of it.

Hiya Dacarak,

As a matter of interest, the vid was in the Bahamas. That is IALA region B, so red and green are reversed. Typical awkward Americans. 'Red right returning' is the way to remember.

I've always thought that us Brits turn up to harbours by boat, so we got it correct. The septics, however, turn up by car and need leading out!!

A few years ago, I was delivering a yacht from Miami and one of my crew got confused and promptly put us aground outside a green post opposite the container dock. Such is life.

/QUOTE]

As its the bahamas the channel markers will be running on the IALA B system, and the skipper would know that surely...

My guess would be that a stabiliser went a bit wonky and cause the turns, that said I wouldn't imagine this would be that difficult to correct, before crashing or running aground. If the background given is to be believed then it also wouldn't explain reversing in a sea wall. Oh well.

Oh and thanks AndieMac for the sentiment!!
