I watched a storm in Kuala Lumpur a couple of years ago. I set my camera (Nikon D200) to take continual 30 second exposures - from 200 exposures I only caught one decent strike ( http://www.redbubble.com/people/agurney/art/1464258-3-lightning-kuala-lumpur-malaysia ) but it was worth it.
