I feel your pain. I'm still waiting to see what Pembrokeshire will charge for Fishguard this year. We've now got the novelty of a moorings waiting list...

Probably Ceredigion refugees looking for an alternative harbour authority..
P.S. I think Aberaeron have a Fishguard cruise in the programme this year so may ee you there.

Glad to see this has annoyed others as well as myself. Didn't know anything about it until the bill arrived yesterday. Was it raised at the last Harbour Users Committee meeting? I've not attended since it went Zoomy..... Huge increase bearing in mind that we get so little in return. Council is now in control of PC so there will be little sympathy for we super-rich boat owners.... The pity is we have nowhere else to go and they know it. Only solution is to pack it in and I think a lot of us will eventually decide that's the best thing to do. As you say there is a lot of hassle attached to moorings in Aberaeron and New Quay and eventually one has to question whether it's worth it.

I wonder what their excuse is, Way above inflation.
Last year quote for 450, this year a whopping 670 a month. Can’t believe current berth holders have seen such an increase. Depends on demand and lots think inflation gives them a golden ticket to make matters worse.

Well, Pembrokeshire County Council have now published the charges for Fishguard Lower Town moorings; not too bad, mostly up by 10%. So the drying mooring for my 6.5m boat is now £268 inc VAT for the year - plus another £37 for the dinghy rack,

I'm happier with that than the 7.5% council tax increase!

Our Council tax rise is about the same, wish my boat could come and live in Lower Fishguard? Much safer and prettier harbour than Aberaeron, and about 50% cheaper.

The EA have just sent out new T&C's for my mooring. I have objected to a couple of clauses
8.1 Boat Safety
(i) Keep the boat at all times clean tidy, sound and watertight condition.

(i) Keeping the boat clean at all times does not affect the boats safety and would be a full time job when birds perch on the rigging and defecate all over the deck.

10 Non-residential use
Under no circumstances may the boat be used for residential purposes or as overnight accommodation.

Not allowing use as overnight accommodation stops the mooring holder from traveling to the boat to prepare for departure and leave on the next morning tide.

Equally, returning with the boat to its mooring after a long and tiring passage, tidying the boat in accordance with clause 8.1(i), then getting some sleep before a long drive home.

#28 the clause covering overnight accommodation seems totally excessive, what happens if a boat doesn’t get on to its mooring until say 01:00 or later, are the crew supposed to tidy up, come ashore and leave? Rediculous!

That would depend on how it's enforced. If it's done intelligently, and only used to prevent vagrant boats, not a problem, but sooner or later, I fear a Jobsworth with not enough proper work to do will happen along.
