Hi, a friend has just bought a 23 foot Viking built in 2000 and someone (a broker) has told him that they suffer badly from osmosis, is this fact or just sour grapes any comments or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
ive had several vikings a couple of 26ft and 1 32ft in the past all much older than 2000 and most were antifouled and then left in the freshwater marina for 3 yrs before i lifted them out to re antifoul and all were perfect..
I've personal experience of a misdiagnosis of Osmosis. High water content isn't enough, nor are blisters necessarily an indicator.
Check if a high moisture reading is not caused by water in voids. Previouisly filled voids in the hull can hold a lot of water if the foam infil has degraded. Empty sealed spaces can also hold lots of water.
