Osculati Led nav lights

Just picked up a set, bicolour bow and a stern light.

Led, 2 watts fully sealed units. Run off 9 to 33v so internally regulated but i run all my led lighting from a stabilised supply anyway. The bicolour draws around 150 ma and the stern light around 100 ma!

Quality looks very good. The pressed stainless steel covers are very smart and the quality of the unit is excellent. Supplied with a good long wire tail. I'm very impressed with these units.

These are to replace my 25 year old traditionally illuminated aquasignals that I am tired of wiggling bulbs in and the lenses of which are faded,hazy and crazed. At £60 for the bow and £40 for the stern they were cheaper than anything else out there! Very very unlikely, similar size, perhaps 10 mm shorter and I think the cable lead outs are in a slightly different position but I guess I'll only know when i get to the boat on wednesday!

How is it a car sidelights and rear lights last for years in wind and rain?

I have had good luck with Osculati products thru three summers in the med.

On your pic the red looks, well, red. The green however looks distinctly blue. Is that an artefact of the camera or compression, or does it actually look blue?

Probably because the car ones are better made

However, you can give yourself half a chance if, once you've got them working, you spay all the electrickery bits with something like ACF50. I had regular issues with the plug on my dinghy trailer until I did this. Since then, touch wood, no problems.

Taken with an ipad so suspect its camera/compression. In reality the light is very green and the brightnesses are very well matched. Once fitted I'll try to take some evening photos.

Just fitted the Osculati bicolour and stern lights I purchased via Ebay. Had to fashion a stainless bracket to fix the stern light to the 1" antenna mast on the pushpit and the pulpit bicolour bracket also required modification. Very impressive results though. excellent angular cut off, brightness and colour clarity. These are the "up to 20m" lights. Low current too and (hopefully) long life.
