Osculati Dinghy Engine Lifting Strap

Thanks. That is the picture that came with it. But the strap itself seems to bear very little realation to the picture! Do you have one installed on your outboard? It so do you have any photos?

My strap includes a stainless ring and a couple of small straps, one with a clip that seems to be made back to front!

Cheers

I don't have one. If you do a Google Images search for outboard lifting you'll find lots of pics, one of which may be relevant to your strap.

I have a similar problem with my bosun's chair. The crotch-strap has a fastener which is like a steel rectangle with a sliding circular rod of steel across it which has a rough surface all around it. The first few times I used the chair neither nor my Wife nor I could work out how to thread the strap through this fastener so I just tied a knot in it.

One time, after a few years, I accidentally threaded it correctly and it worked, so I said to my Wife that we must never un-thread it again as I'll never work out how to do it again. But when I donned the damn chair a few weeks ago I stupidly undid the strap completely. :ambivalence:

We then sat there for about half an hour with me saying "Look, I did this once before so we know that it is possible .... so we're bloody well going to sit here until we work it out again." And, eventually, we did. :encouragement:
