Just received - in plenty of time - the marina invoice for our swinging mooring coming summer.
Contrary to the current trend - a generous price increase.
Contacted the marina - are you taking the piss? - or words to that effect.

Apparently incorporated into the mooring fee is a 'licence' element payable to the Port Authority.
Anyone else heard about this, or are they indeed extracting the waste liquid?

They are quite correct in saying that part of your fee goes to pay ABP for the river mooring licence. As far as I am aware though, the most expensive licences are not much over £200 so at 10% a worst case scenario increase would only be a £20 or so extra. Might be wirth ringing ABP and see how much more they really have increased this years licence, and I would not be surprised you discover that Levington are levying their own increases ontop of that. I have not had mine through yet and really hope ABP are keeping to within inflation increases...

ON my mooring I pay the ABP license fee, and any of my own maitenance costs. I understand from the club, that the they charge for moorings, but the ABP fee is on top. I think my ABP fee is about £200p.a.

I haven't had my ABP renewal through yet, so I don't know what the increase is. As an aside, I changed address awhile back and forgot to tell ABP. I therefore didn't pay them for 2 years before it clicked. They were unconcerned, and didn't reisue the mooring (lucky for you!), but I did pay up for all the back charges.

Yup, much apprecitaive of my luck.

Another thing though, when I was on a Tony Ward mooring at Pin Mill, he actually itimised the invoice, so you knew how much went to ABP. Maybe you could suggest that to Levington?

I 'own' my Orwell mooring and rent the site via the Club who collect the ABP licence fee from me on behalf of ABP. Accepting that the club probably gets a block discount from ABP I still only pay £90 p.a. (although it would be more if the boat were bigger) I think that amount also includes a nominal admin fee from the club, so its not a huge wedge. I would check carefully if you have had a big hike.
