A little recap on the overfalls to get it straight in my head. Go inshore if you've got weather, wind & tide, anything else stay well offshore. Hope thats right.

Lowestoft is a wonderful place to visit. well maybe not that good,however, some insider information. As you enter the port there is the Nobs and snobs to Port. A really good marina and Club with good facilities under the Guise of the RNSYC. To Starbd is the new Hamilton Dock marina. Brand spanking new with about as much atmosphere as a pork scatching factory in a kibbutz. Straight ahead and through the regularly opening bridge lies Lowestoft Haven Marina. Here you will find a friendly welcome, good pontoon berthing and the LHMCC which will gladly welcome the East coast forum members if they would provide dates so an event can be staged for their welcome. If you are planning to come up next year, please let me know so that I can arrange something

Sounds like the makings of a plan to me. I think quite a few would be willing to go for it especially if there is a specific gathering planned and that sort of reception. Just need to decide when it's to be and plan for that. Obviously the more notice people have, the better chance of them making it.
For me (from here) it's a two day passage each way, but hopefully I will have gained enough experience over the winter to make it under my own sail, then maybe head South after, if I can sort out a mooring further down.
I would say go for it, just try to avoid conflict with other events like the Oostende weekend and holiday plans that some long distance sailors may already have planned, also the Burnham and Ramsgate weeks, and I think even the Row4aReason weekend is long term planned
