Ore Survey - buoyage chart

The RHYC info is for the Deben, the advice is given by John White, the harbourmaster at Felixstowe Ferry. As he points out, Trinity Hse did a survey earlier this month and have positioned the Knoll buoys according. The entrance is further west and there is less water than last year. The buoys may yet be moved again and hopefully Trinity Hse will then publish positions for them. Until then, John White is the best person to speak to for the latest situation at Woodbridge Haven.

Re the Ore entrance, a large new shoal has appeared over the winter opposite the Coastguard cottages, joined to the shore at Shingle Street by a shingle isthmus, which has closed off the "old" entrance and exit (used up until a couple of years ago). A dramatic aerial photo, taken on March 3rd by Mike Page, of the new Shingle Street shoal appeared in the EADT on Saturday.

Whether the way in and out that has been used for the past two seasons is still viable remains to be seen. The buoys have not been laid yet.
Perhaps Aldeburgh YC or Orford SC will be able to get some info/guidelines published before the start of the season.

Am planning to get down to Shingle Street at LW sometime this week (by land) to have a look and will report back if I find out any more.

If you look at top left corner you can search under keyword / date for Mike Page and date of 3 March you can get to see the picture. Cannot reproduce it here as it is under copyright.

There is some guidance published on the RHYC website, it is reported that the entrance has moved West over the winter and is shallower than last season.

Sorry to correct you Simon, but that refers to the Deben entrance, and although it is informative, the OP was enquiring about the Ore I believe.

I too would like to know if there is any published up to date information about the Ore?

Others got there first!

I had thought the thread had drifted towards the general demise of the website/surveys and forgotten that the OP was referring to the Orford Haven - sorry :o
