Went down to Shingle Street this am around LW (by land) and can confirm that the 'temporary' buoyage laid recently by Trinity House does indeed mark an entrance route very different from anything in the past few years. It is once again possible to follow a fairly direct course between the Orford Haven Buoy and the 'old' orange and white beacon on the shore at Oxley Marshes. Will have to do some research to see when we last did this, but it must be many years back.
As far as I can see, the Orford Haven buoy is in a very similar position to last year; Oxley is further east; and Weir is further east and further north, well upriver of The Bungalow.
From the Haven buoy the course is in a northerly direction, leaving Oxley to port and heading for the orange and white beacon. It appears to be virtually a straight line, leaving Weir to starboard as you enter the river between the North Shoal knolls at a point just downstream of the beacon.
According to Philip Attwood, the Orford Quay Master, those who have used it say the 'temporary' entrance is fairly straightforward if shallow.
While I was there this morning a small fishing boat attempted to leave by the buoyed channel but turned back in a hurry, presumably having found little water. He turned away and left by last year's route, heading out down the narrow passage between the Shingle Street shore and the southern knolls of the North Shoal.
Here are some photos (it was against the light so not very good quality).
Hope to get down there on the water soon and check some depths.

Hoping to actually get down there on the water sometime over the next few days to see what the depths are like.
