Orca attack

Boat beached after orca attack at night. Will have to wait and see next post to see if they managed to float.

Looks like a completely FAKE story to me. I guess they ran aground under motor while asleep. 22K views might help pay for the repairs when the insurance company calls gross negligence.

I was a bit suprised that, as they were recording their adventure, they didn’t immediately reach for the go-pro when the Orcas attacked.

How difficult would it be to induce an electro magnetic field around the yacht which could well disrupt the orcas sensory ability and persuade it to bugger off

an electro magnetic field around the yacht

That might disrupt all the electronics on the yacht. The poor Yotties would sail round in circles without their pooters and plotters...could end up in Canvey Island instead of the Canaries.. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Do Orca use electrosensing? Sure you arent thinking of sharks, against which I believe this has been done to protect long range swimmers?

Think orca mostly use acoustics. I suppose that MIGHT be jammable. OTOH acoustic countermeasures probably wont have a purely local effect, given that sound travels a long way underwater.

Nice of the orca to break the tip of the rudder and then deposit it on the beach right where they went aground! This is clearly a fake attack and a scam. Look out for a go fund me in the very near future.

Now they've hauled out, it will be interesting to see the damage. Quite likely the digger knocked that bit off.

You do know how big cruise ships are, and what they’re made of?
Well, sort of.

Never been on one.

I’ve seen very small animals attack much larger ones, so my question remains but has not been answered directly but slightly with ridicule. What was the post above about commercial vessels attacked (that my browser will not open)?

I know the whales travel the same routes as small fibre glass sailing cruisers.

I know nothing of passenger cruiser rudders. Big metal I guess?

I have read low frequency radio waves scares or disrupts whales. Submarines use them for comms. So I read…

VLF radio waves (3–30 kHz) can penetrate seawater to a few tens of metres and a submarine at shallow depth can use them to communicate. A deeper vessel can use a buoy equipped with an antenna on a long cable

A different frequency…
Scientists Find Sounds That Deter Killer Whales from Fish Nets

This article is not the one I read or need and is conflicting but interesting…

noted that the baleen whales in the flight group actually produce lower-frequency songs to prevent orcas from homing in on them.
