Can you give me your opinions on this boat please.

Its a 2001 Fletcher 17 Arrowstreak GTO with Yamaha 130hp V4 Outboard.

I know its an open bow, not something i was origionally looking for, but I haven't seen a nice cuddy for similar money yet.

The boat would be used for occasional use in Loch Lomond, and for towing to Arran on holiday times....... only on perfect days!

Would it be silly to use it with the bow cover on it all the time? Also a question about the RCD plate, it states that you can only carry 4 persons, I don't think thats all tha many, especially when you think it had 5 seats in the cockpit, what do you think?

Also views on the engine please, never seen an Outboard that shape before!! Is the engine any good?

Its for sale for £9995, the dealer thinks an offer of £8500 might get it, but I was thinking about a cheeky offer of £7800, what do you think?

Re: Opinions on Boat please.

It looks like a clean boat, the 17 has a great hull and will give a decent dry ride. Yamaha have been making that engine since the mid 80's, its a great engine and as bullet proof as they get.

I'm not a big fan of bowriders for all the obvious reasons. I once took a 17ft Glastron out on Windermere and nearly sunk it in quite small chop. But if only used on perfect days, then a bowrider makes a lot of sense, lots of room for sunbathing and room for the kids to play. Nothing wrong with keeping a cover on the bow all the time.

It looks like you have upped your budget, i'm sure you can get either 19gto or 3.0l 19gts for that kind of money.

you seem very keen to get a boat.... sometimes keenness and haste can become regret in the long run....

...oh listen to me... sound like bloody yoda!!!

you want a cuddy for all the right reasons. IMHO this isn't the answer... as for the engine, is a Yami, its will be great... as for traveling the whole time with the bow cover on... it will cope... but it won't make it a cuddy!

You are better off with a bowrider than a cuddy imho.
More room to move about the boat.
The probs with cuddy types as a day boat is there is a prob with going forward.
Like, chuking the anchor out fer instance.

As a day boat on the Bonny Bonny Banks.
I would go bow rider verses cuddy.
Yam outboards are canny (your language!) that particular one has no gliches but does like a drink!
However tiss plenty of engine for the Hull.
Once on the plane it will tick along nicely.

Mate has just bought the same hull with a 200 on!
Albeit older model but She sips fuel at 20 kts.

If it is the kinda boat yer wants.

Do the offer.
Cheeky Git.
Remind Me not to try and sell yer summat /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Opinions on Boat please.

No!
I think Ali's choice is better!
Deffo an outboard versus inboard for His use.
Inboards and outdrives imho, can be a beggar if stuff goes wrong. Specially older stuff.
I don,t like the fact that there is difficulty going forward on sports boats.
Flippen, flippen the window open and crawling about the slopey deck forward.
Damm nusiance.

Stop being irritating
The only thing any good in your post is you like Yammy engines.
Consider this as a severe Reprimand from a seriously Old Poster /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Reprimand taken! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

... old petrol inboard engines IMHO ....trouble, you are totally right. (run for cover!) , but I haven't grown up yet, I understand outboards, don't have a frigging clue about inboards..(they are for grown ups) .. hence why all my boats to date have had outboards!!!

...... I did find a Bayliner cuddy a while back & I posted previously that had a Yami 140 engine... but for whatever reason that didn't seem to float Al's boat!....

Re: Opinions on Boat please.

Thanks guys, HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THAT!!!

The Rinker looks like it would be perfect,

I've been looking for Cameron house boat sales for a few weeks now, but their site, City Boats always seems to be down, have they now changed to Scot Yachts?

Cheers

I'm working all day tomorrow, so just said to SWMBO we could go and see it on Sunday after we've been to Largs Marina.

Re: Opinions on Boat please.

Just been looking at their new website.
Why did they change their name?

Do you recognise where those pics were taken? Is there a yard at Cameron House?

Cheer
