Hi Ian,

Just remembered it is not a new model, it used to be called the 2859 Express.

Still not a big Fan, the normal 285 looks better.

Yep you are right spose it is just a re vamped version of the old (and naff) express range. Had a look in the 24' er yesterday. Liked the hardtop idea not so keen on the lack of cabin space particularily the very small single mid berth. Dont think my daughter would be too keen on that as her sleeping arrangement. I do however think that it is a good range if it fits your requirements. (Doesnt fit mine apart from the hard top)

Trophy is a far more fishing/cockpit biased range.
Personally think this is a bit slabsided and old fashioned looking, though not ugly like most of the current jelly-mould designs. The 288 looks better IMHO.

They all look very good value for money, atleast they do in "standard" spec. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just noticed that the 289 is 10K US dollars more than the 285. Incidentally a fully laoded (elec windlass etc) 24' discovery is 54K at Aquatics.

HOW MUCH??????????????

You can have a fully loaded something else for that! My 285 was only £59k two years ago. I like Bayliners, but they are American and built to a budget, but good boats all the same.

You can have a 24ft diesel from Sweeden for less!

looked at one at LIBS, think it was around 26ft.

Looks much more than a revamped job - more 'new but hanging onto some of the Cierra Express styling!'

Good stowage and cavenous space overall for the hull length. Downsides to me were the narrow sidedecks and relatively small cockpit. I love hard tops but you have to have a balance on a small boat with cockpit space! Also the really high HT is going to cast a big shadow - SWMBO would constantly be asking for the boat to be repositioned.

Overall you are going to get a price concious fit out on basic but solid engineering - it's a Brunswick boat of course.

But it isn't 24ft, its 27ft.9ins - so not badly priced I'd have thought.

The 246 is actually 7.82m or 25'8"

I think you are refering to the 289 which is 8.46m or 27'9".

I agree, for the 289 £54k fully loaded woud be ok, but for the 246 which is what itsonlymoney was refering to, £54k is a load of money. I assume it is at least diesel for that price.

To be honest I am not too sure. I beleive something has "gone on" but wouldnt like to say with any degree of certainty exactly what.
