Opinions on Nicholson 44

To make it anywhere near a viable proposition, they'd need to pay you to take it away! Even then, you can count on spending £50K and a huge amount of time to get it into decent nick. And it's still a 1981 boat. For £50K you could buy a similar boat from 1994, in fairly good condition, virtually fully sorted, with good electronics and a decent engine, and be sailing it next week - see https://lancashire.boatshed.com/camper__nicholson_45-boat-221655.html

Yeah, I've started pricing up just the ply for the deck today based on boats of a similar size and I'm looking at nearly 1k just in deck If I don't miscut or screw up any of the boards.

Couple of things

I singlehand a 44 ft cutter some of the time. You will be OK esp as you have a bowthruster for marina maneuvers provided you have a reliable autopilot.

Is the deck all wood. IE not wood over glass. So as others and you say it looks shot and needs replacing. Also it looks like it leaks so I would say that you are almost certain to find further areas of rot as remove the old decks.

Is the deck planked or plywood? From the seams it looks planked.

The decks alone look like man years of work
