OpenCpn on android

Yes would be great. Im trying to sort some sort of ais in my cockpit over wifi. But at the moment the only option is inavx on a dastardly ipad! If OpenCPN ran on Android then could use a nexus 7 or suchlike. The only other problem that I can see is that I use the VMH charts on a locked usb key on my laptop and I don't see how that would work on a tablet. I suppose they would start doing sd card ones.

I use MX Mariner, which is an OpenCPN look alike, on my S3 Galaxy . I have opencpn on the laptop.

Apparently the author of MX Mariner, Will Kamp, was also involved with developing OpenCPN, hence the similarities in "feel".

I dont really use the MX Mariner on the phone much but have tested it often including on airplanes where it gives position, speed and heading - if you can get GPS through the windows.
In NZ the entire chart set is available as a free download from the Government cause the department in question thinks that they are there to provide services to the taxpayer. Imagine that! A government department that actually provides something for free. Tis like a throwback to the 50s and hopefully no politically correct new-age Bureaucrat will cotton on and modernise them.

Meantime More power to the OpenCPN effort, - but couldnt they just ask the Will Kamp how he did it?
