I have been using OpenCPN (Windows variant) for some time for AIS display (I use Maptech for navigation) and have been impressed with the improved display of CPA etc in version 2.1.0. However, I was slightly disappointed to find recently that it does not display Class B (small yachts etc.) targets. I was hoping to track a new acquaintance who has fitted a Class B unit but could only see him on an old AIS display programme (Yacht-AIS) that I don't use anymore, not on OpenCPN.

Is this a known problem? If so, does anyone know if a fix is in progress?

Er - I had OpenCPN 2.1 running on my netbook over the weekend and there were quite a number of class b targets - what I was niggled about was there was no option to turn of CPA alarm with class B targets ....
Engine is Comar AIS ...

I have been using OpenCPN v2.1.0. My installation shows Class B AIS targets without proble. They are differentiated from Class A by having a swallow tail icon. My AIS data is provided to OpenCPN via a Comar AIS-Multi.

Ah - OK , thanks guys. It could be that my NASA AIS (Mk 1) is not receiving them then. I will investigate further.

AIS

You can get an update chip for the nasa engine that receives all types of messages. They only charge a few pounds.
