This season (should we get one!) I'm trialling going over to OpenCPN from Navionics - mainly to utilise my new Antares charts.

One thing I can't seem to load is tidal stream data - I've got tidal height data showing OK but can't get the streams. Sailing out of Oban area, there are few tidal gate which it is essential to get right.

So has anyone got the tidal stream data, such as shown in navionics to work in OpenCPN?

Thanks

I suspect you're out of luck..
There was a French harmonic file knocking about which would do tidal streams for round the channel a while ago which google might find, nothing up as far north as you though. The data isn't free unfortunately.
What does work well though is converting tidal atlases into something that opencpn can display, KAP files work well as you can set them up to view each file with ctrl and keyboard arrows >

A selection from the channel in here, and some marine traffic density images converted to KAP files.

Works best to save as different chart groups.
New version of opencpn seems to handle it all better >

Still nothing up your way though......

Thanks - guess I'll have to use a hybrid OpenCPN / Navionics set up which is rather inconvenient...

It looks like someone is propagating my Tide Stream Charts / KAP files. I hope he isn't trying to make money out of the UKHO and my hard work :devilish:
The original source is here: Tide Stream Charts : Monty Mariner
I see he didn't bother to strip the border off as I did!

Looks like your wrong.
Not yours, though some of the images may have come from your links, can't remember. Vague memories of spending ages photographing the tidal atlases.
They aren't your images anyway, they belong the the UKHO. ;)

Check the file modified dates and file sizes, pretty sure I made these first :)

Hope you didn't copy them and try to make money out of the UKHO and my hard work :devilish: ;)

No, they are mine, look at the 1-6 hours before / after blocks in white and my Date / Time block which is a hang over from when I first laminated them so I could put the Dover Time +/- hours in for a three day window when passage planning. You will see the same block on most of the Tide Stream charts on my Website.

No, they are mine,
How come all the kap files are different files sizes and modified dates?
some of the images may have come from your site originally as said before, that's the illegally copied files you have uploaded.

I first started converting tides to ksps in 2016, wayback machine says you had no kaps on your site then.
Make your own opencpn charts from images

some if the images may have come from your site originally as said before.
I take it that the site you pointed to as source is yours!
I don't doubt that the KAPs are yours, albeit taken from my PNG images, because as noted in #4 'I see he didn't bother to strip the border off as I did! (with my KAP charts).
I've no problem with people using the images and KAP's I'e produced, I made it known on the Cruisers & Sailing Forum here:

Copyright and database rights are complex, so better not to talk of stealing. Anyway, the PSI Directive gives rights of access to reuse government data through a very simple licensing scheme. This includes tidal flow diagrams.

See Introduction to Copyright Licensing

'Non navigational, non commercial' licence is what you want.

Lets be clear here, you stole the UKHO data just like I did.
It's not yours, you have no say on the matter.
Yes, I used the UKHO data as acknowledge in #4 and turned it into images, I also spent a lot of time cleaning up the numbers, recolouring and squaring up the images.
I guess I just feel that an acknowledgement to my site for providing the images would have been nice, but as we all know, we are also grateful to the UKHO !
