I've always been an advocate in favour of Open CPN but I'm struggling this week not to throw the netbook overboard!! Open CPN keeps crashing it - does anyone else have this problem and anyone have a solution? V2.3.1 / XP Sp3 USB/serial adaptor and Garmin 152.

Cheers David

No solution I am afraid but similar problem. It kept having to close itself and then once it froze completely and I had to download again. Since then it has been fine but I keep meaning to contact the maker but never seem to find the time.

Good luck.

If you upgraded over an existing setup and if you're using the dodgy CM93 charts, you may need to delete the directory from OpenCPN (Toolbox->Charts->Delete Selection). Restart OpenCPN and re-add the CM93 directory as a chart source...

I have a similar configuration and have had no problems. I am currently using OpenCPN 2.4.523 without crashes etc. I feel obliged to use the latest beta version since doing a bit of beta-testing is the least I can do to help the guys developing it!

I have also used Paul Higgins' Google Earth to .kap capture software to generate images of all the harbours we're likely to visit on the French coast as an overlay on CM93 charts. Magic - and it doesn't need a GE permanent connection like the plug-in (not quite true but it's very fiddly to set up).
