Oostende runners and riders

Hi Neville

My thinking was that it's a 20 hour trip from Bradwell (and Burnham) for me - a bit less for you. From Harwich it should be 16 hours. That means leaving Harwich when I want to - no tide issues - and getting there in daylight not quite so knackered. So Thursday pm up the Wallet, an early visit to the Bristol Arms and a kip before an early start.

I shall do it in one coming back and creep into Bradwell at first light or before which ties in nicely with HW.

I like your plan especially the Bristol arms bit, have not got as far as looking at tides yet however 16 rather then 20 sounds good take it your working on an avg of 5kn?

We have a plan.

The good ship Beyond Reason has a plan. We: Bernie, Alan and Patrick will set sail first thing Friday am and leave Ostend on Sunday morning.

Alan (Centaurpipedream) has to be back in Plymouth on the following Wednesday in order to participate in a trivial little single-handed thing (Jester Challenge).

Being a gentleman (no smirking) he is concerned that should we become stormbound in Ostend, he will have to hotfoot it back to Plymouth (flights or ferries I suppose) leaving Patrick and myself to bring the boat back on our own - presumably when the weather improves (!!).

Knowing I prefer to have a crew of three for a 15 hour or so passage, he has suggested I seek a volunteer standby substitute crew for the return trip. So if any boats going are overstaffed or might be able to spare a crew for the return trip in extremis, please speak up!

And I thought Alan was going over in his own boat and then singlehanding non-stop straight down to Plymouth. Not the man I thought he was obviously. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry Bernie - I only have one crew and you ain't borrowing him!

Oh - will Morgana and Artemis, who will leave me behind, please indentify a supply of moules and frites and lubrication for prompt consumption on our arrival. Cor, can't wait /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
