Found this on Saturday. 4" thick and still very good quality plyboard. I think someone gave it a hell of a knock.

Sort of 'diving with a dash of sailing' day.

Anyone know where I was?

Nope, not Ilfracombe.

There's a drilling rig 30 yards from me, and a new underwater turbine scheduled to be installed about 200 yards behind me next year.

Got to be somewhere with strong tide then.Wild guess ,under the St Davids Lifeboat slip?

Yes, of course. Ramsey Sound.

We did get up North of St Davids head on Sat, but it was quite unpleasant.

The drilling rig is temporary - they are checking the bottom for suitability for piling, ready for teh new lifeboat station due to be built by 2012. The old one will be demolished, sad really, I feel like I've known it all my life.

Three surveys have been carried out this year for underwater turbines, and a test installation goes in next year. Very near the wreck of an old sailing ship we've been diving, actually, which is a shame, as we will not be able to dive there once it goes in.

If you're interested, it's 150 tonnes, with 10m diameter rotors, and will sit on the bottom without anchors. Hope I'm there when they install it, I'll take some piccies.

Alcyone I know you will know it so U are barred from answering :-)

Ha, ha, yes, er, of course I should be banned. It's er, obvious....... Too, er, easy.

Actually, Graham, I think I do recognise it. I've recovered a RIB there. Twice.

If it is where I think it is, you'll understand how much fun that was.
