Last summer on Lake Isabella, California, a family new to boating were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22ft Bayliner to perform. Wouldn't get on a plane at all, and it was very sluggish in almost every manoeuvre, no matter how much power was applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted over to a nearby marina, thinking someone there could tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working order. The engine ran fine, the out drive went up and down, the prop was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer.

Happens in Europe to. 7 Years ago i just, had bought my first real speedboat, a maxum 17 with inboard engine 3l mercruiser. After a few months i had the boat, we had quite a thunderstorm while waterskiing and ofcorse i still had some bilgewater i couldn't pump out automattically so once at home, I turned out the copper bilge screw to epmty it. Ofcourse i didn't put it back the same evening and a few days later we went back. U can imagine my face when i pushed the throttle forward and the boat stayd just as deep in the water as it was normally. After a minute or so one of my friends who was sitting in the back asked me if it was normal that his feet got all wet. I never got the boat that fast out of the water ever again. Never the less the boat kept on serving fine until just this year. I sold it and bought myself a bigger one. Like everyone does after a few years of boating but i'll never forget to put the screw back in this one :)

Sounds like a fairy story; how could they not have seen the straps holding the boat to the trailer?

Perhaps the fairies made invisible straps for the trailer.

The version of this story that I heard was that a Scot was taking delivery of his new powerboat from a firm in England. He needed to catch the ferry with his new purchase back to his island, missed the last service.

To overcome this problem he calls a friend back home on the island to arrange to meet him at the slip, unhitches the trailer from the car, rolls it into the water, drives boat across to island with trailer attatched underneath, rolls up slip, attatches to new car, and drives home.

You shouldn't tellporkies on the internet, we all know that in actual fact the place was Penton Hook, not America, the boat was a Riva 48 Superamerica and not a 22 Bayliner, and the FRIEND was indeed YOU!

I'm sure you won't be suprised to hear, I have heard this story before. Except of course the person who didn't notice the trailer was a blonde. Which I assume you are.
