Online Free ENC Chart viewer

ENC ? = http://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/mcd/enc/index.htm

That's very interesting. Digital charts of the UK from the USA prime supplier. How up to date ? How to get hold of them ? Will they work with OpenChart ?
ENC simply means electronic nautical charts, UK ones here say they're based on "Our nautical charts app is derived from RNCs published by UKHO."
A quick look showed the marina in Arricefe which isn't that old but not the newish buoyage in the Guadiana River. Not that that actually tells you much :)

Hi, nice charts but they do seem out of date. I clicked on the link and it showed a chart of the Thames. I followed upstream to Hammersmith Bridge and it shows south of the bridge Thames Water Reservoirs. Living close by I know that the reservoirs have not been there for more than 10 years, and are now the Wetlands Centre.

I am no expert with this stuff but the link is showing a free base map. In order to make it useable you have to make 'in app purchases' for the sea area you intend to operate in and pass through and it seems UK is around £25 as is the Med. So similar pricing to Navionics although this version suggests it is able to accommodate sensor inputs from AIS et al.

I am not sure if the in app purchase will update the map to remedy the anomalies noted above.

I have no local knowledge at all, but being a non-maritime feature it wouldn't amaze me if the current official charts hadn't reflected that change either :)

Same on navionics webapp so might be the original data which hasn't been updated.

For UK, it uses ENCs licensed from UKHO, which provides ENC updates to all licensees at the same time. Infact UKHO claims that there is a wall between UKHO and all other chart providers (Admiralty, Navionics, i-Boating, C-Map etc) and it offers its charts and data to everyone under the same terms and conditions. So there is no reason for any company using UKHO data to not provide timely updates.

On my Android tablet I get chart symbols on a white background. No coast outline.

What Android tablet is this and what OS? Make sure to use Chrome. My guess is that its some webgl compatibility issue. Vector rendering allows more advanced things to be done. For e.g. in satellite overlay mode, skip drawing all land features. Or change depth unit(feet, meter, fathom ) on demand etc. Or apply a water level offset to all depths.
The web app does have issue with older devices/OS versions due to WebGL compatibility. But it should work fine on modern browsers/OS versions. ( I just tried a Samsung Tab running OS 6.0 and it worked. )

Its in USD. So it would be close to £19. Prior to the Brexit vote, it was closer to £15. I don't think that purchase would change the said anomaly.

This is because the UKHO have not updated that non-marine feature. It is the same on my upto date VMH charts.
