I am trying to register my 406Mhz PLB online but the MCGA link to register an EPIRB just takes me back to the document that prescribes the requirement to register EPIRBS/PLB's. Is it only possible to register by sending a form to HM Coastguards at Falmouth?

Thanks for the link - on the MCA website section regarding registration of EPIRBS it has this link that just goes to a text document?

Online registration:http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/epirb

Government Depts.... Wonder why the country is such a mess.

We used the online via the gov.uk portal which is where most online government stuff is being migrated to. Legacy sites such as the one the OP used to start with will no longer lead to online systems, rather they will send you to printed forms instead: this is a short term fix, until the older departmental sites are closed down. Slow process but that's what's happening.

We registered a PLB using the online system: we got an email back quite quickly stating that the beacon had been registered but that due to a backlog it might take several weeks before the stickers arrived. And they did, about three months later. You don't need the stickers to use the beacons by the way, it simply provides easy to hand evidence of your registration should you need it (can't imagine why, but there you go!)
