My apologies for asking questions that might already have been answered, but I searched the forums first and couldn't find anything.

I've already completed my Day Skipper Practical/ICC and my VHF course. Now that my SQ55 will be heading to Swanwick, I hope to attend Mendez Marine's Sea Survival, Radar, and First Aid courses.

However, all my theory is from the standard RYA books, and I've completed very little chart practice. I wondered in any of you have used the online courses from Mendez (or any others) and if you would recommend them?

Thanks!

I would wholeheartedly recommend Mendez. I've always enjoyed the courses I've done with them. I would suggest phoning and talking through what you want so that something can be tailored specifically to you.

My wife and I both used Ocean Training and passed first time. Some of their multi-media was a bit primative, but it was easy to understand and the staff are friendly.

Give Jon a call. Mendez does a good online course, How much do you use the theory stuff you learnt on your Day skipper when out,If you are happy with the theory that was covered on your DS practical, it may be Yachtmaster/coastal theory you need. Jon can advice you. other options could be a mix of theory and practical ie a couple days in class room and a coastal course. It all depend on what you want to do with the boat.

Thanks... I was down on Saturday, but the door was locked and couldn't see a bell, so in a moment of boredom, entered the chandlery and bought lots of things I didn't need :)

Still! An ICOM that's buoyant _and_ flashes! Irresistible.... :)
