Re: answer number 12

Dont like buying on line, you cant barter so to speak. As tcm says, most are only box shifters, and they dont really want to know if it goes wrong. Better off buying those things face to face so to speak cos you can have a twiddle wiv the knobs and switches and get domos and the like.

Reccomendations please

Barry can you reccomend any marine electronics outfit on the S Coast who can do the fitting work competently as well as supply the boxes at a good price. Looking for somebody to supply and fit a new plotter and navtex

Re: Reccomendations please

Try Dave Freeman at Aztec Marine (Hamble) on 023 8045 5112.
Always found him reasonable, competant and provides good after sales.

Re: Reccomendations please

Golden Arrow Electronics were very good. Gave a bit of discount on the purchase price and installation. Had a little trouble with the bits installed but they gave very good back up service, and they did'nt charge for the call out. They have a few sites on the south coast all around southhampton and poole areas. Main one is southampton i think 023 8071 9433

I must recommend Yachtbits on:

http://www.yachtbits.fsnet.co.uk/index.htm

the stuff is chaep and the presales AND!! aftersales excellent...

They're East Coast too and will come and give you a hand if it all goes wrong...to my mind this combined with the advice and service is worth it - I did shop around and couldn't find anyone much cheaper.

And no...I have no connection apart from being a very happy customer

Re: well he would say that wouldn\'t he

and it took you to point that out eh Kim....

I have to say that generally the sites are way behind telesales - if you ring MES Bristol for example they will sell you loads of mainstream stuff from stock that is not on their site at all...
