One week charter out of Split, Croatia

Thank you all for comments - all being noted. Please keep them coming!

agreed, long day sails won’t be appreciated, so I’m looking for a 2-4 hour sail each day followed by exploring/beach/eating ?

Not been for a few years but I'd say take plenty of cash as the smaller less populated islands aren't well furnished with either cashpoints or businesses taking cards. I'd also keep out of marinas and harbours unless you like the fully immersive 'Flotilla' experience.

Cashpoints are few and far between outside the main towns although marinas seem to have them. Credit card acceptance is a lot more prevalent than it was a few years ago but Croatia is not in the Euro so we try not to use our Euro cards unless we have to as I don't think the rate is very good.

In harbours you will be stern to with a slime line out front. Someone will almost invariably lift the slime line for you using a nice clean line on the harbour wall. Top tip is to have a couple of pairs of gardening gloves with you because the slimelines are flithy with occaisional fish hooks or other sharp bits embedded. Second tip is to pull in the gang plank at night to reduce the chances of cats coming aboard while you sleep. third tip is early morning bakeries are everywhere and really good, forth tip is be prepared to pay through the nose for a length of wall and spartan or meager facilities.

Indeed so. The only time we have ever been rammed by a dragging boat was in the Blue Lagoon (Drevnik Veli). Check whether the wind might get up in the night before you decide to anchor there. If you are able to anchor there watch for the Pipefish. There are several bays with Pipefish colonies but there are a lot of them in Drevnik Veli and they are easy to see against the light bottom. They are strange creatures.

The other Blue Lagoon on Bisevo (near Vis) is certainly worth a visit in the dinghy near midday but, of course, you can't anchor in that one. ;)

When did it get called the Blue Lagoon - although that’s a decent description

If you walk down the quay somewhere like Rogoznica or Split there are those day tripper boats that have a sandwich board with photos showing where they stop for an hour or two or even just do a pass through. Krknjas Veli Bay on Drevnik Veli is always referred to as the Blue Lagoon on the boards. Unfortunately, that's one reason that it's so busy these days.

A couple of times we've anchored in the next bay to the west. It's not as attractive and there's no restaurant although you could dinghy round the 1.5 miles to Krknjas I suppose.
