one reason why towing a tender alonside is not recomended

Certainly was, doubt the folk on the two boats he scraped passed were very impressed!

Thanks for posting that - I know I shoudn't, but made me laugh! Kinda boaty equivalent of driving a truck/bus under a low bridge and I've seen a few of those... :D

I particularly liked the bilge of the 2nd vessel - sort of made a statement I thought.

Ouch!! Judging by the lack of shouting and general running around, no one seemed that bothered! I wonder if they ever stopped.......

Not the Juliana sluis as wrong type of bridge, Juliana has a top beam and counterweight, along with no tall building/ store to the left.

wondered about the lock at Lemmer, which would fit with the bow thrust engine & exhaust on the small barge being bashed into.

Could be right but look at Google Street View the tower is visible from the road adjacent to Julianasluis. Gouda have just signed with Van Lent, yacht builders to finance an extra sluis wider than the existing so they can get bigger yacht down to Rotterdam. That should reduce the bottleneck considerably.

When your boat is made of 8mm steel, you tend not to worry about a little dinghy.

Yes, but that old bag, sorry, young lady, obviously saw what happened and didn't seem particularly bothered. I hope there all not like that over there. I just can't help thinking that the lack of concern from 'all' doesn't inspire confidence in the EU :)

There was some work going on when I was there late may. Didnt know Feadship van lent were involved in the financing though. G Street view shows the bridge beams nicely.
