One thing puzzles me about the report. I recall an interview on TV a little while ago with a person from the support boat saying they had a disagreement over how close the support boat should follow (he wanted to be 5 yards away, she wanted him to be over the horizon). I see no reference to the support boat in the report.
Having spent a couple of years as a wheelchair user, I have nothing but admiration for the spirit and determination of this lady. She certainly sails more than a few of the "experts" often heard on here....
One thing does puzzle me though, is her claim to be sailing single-handed round Britain. I'm not talking about her being helped into and out of her boat, or having a support boat, but having a support crew member aboard to reef seems against the "rules" of solo sailing.
Is this a normal part of the routine, or was it done because of the conditions on the day?
I understand that well Chris, and I'm really in awe of her. I had a lot less to cope with during my illness.
Amazing feat that it is, it's just that solo, or single-handing, seems a claim too far.
