It started easily enough, wait for the postman as I was expecting some 'signed for' delivery items then down to Largs by train to finish a little job on the boat and a general check over. A couple of warning signs not given due credence on the way down:
* talk of a weather bomb and pretty crappy weather forecast
* announcements in Glasgow Central Station cancelling ferries to Brodick and Rosneath
* taxi driver (surely the most reliable source) stating that he thought the return trains from Largs to Glasgow would be cancelled later
* it was dark at around lunchtime, howling wind and as our Americans cousins say 'inclement climatic conditions with considerable precipitation'
* there are no little jobs on a boat
Holy moly, job done on the boat but a quick check on the Scotrail website revealed that the next couple of trains back to Glasgow had indeed been cancelled - replaced by a bus service, the teatime Belfast CG weather forecast was 10s and 11s, and there was indeed considerable precipitation.
All is not lost as decided to stay on-board, shore powered heater and some DVDs to watch. The Marina bar (Scotts) does a discount on steak night each Tues, a couple of beers, a steak and back to the boat to watch a video whilst the wind howls (currently 30 knots). It's actually really cosy on board, I am listening to the wind and feeling very comfy.
Whilst I hope anyone at sea is safe, is there anyone else enjoying a secure night aboard in these lively conditions?
