Helping a friend today and found this debris in the oil pan of a Volvo 41a and have no idea of what it is or where it's came from.
The engine is being repaired due to a valve stem shearing and dropping the valve into no5 cylinder, wrecking the piston and the liner.
Any thoughts? They measure about 3mmx 7mm with a hollow centre

They are aligning dowels can't think at the moment where from as I'm in the pub

Thanks for the reply's, as far as I can see all the piston cooling nozzles are intact I will give them a good going over tomorrow
I am seeing signs that this engine has been worked on before but have no idea what's been done to it
Thanks

I'm also wondering were the best place would be to buy the new piston and liner, volspec want £450 for the liner?
