Took this photo 10 minutes ago from my office window, thought a few may appreciate it. I'm working in Sydney for a few weeks and have constantly been amazed at the number of yachts here and the usage they get, this is Sydney Harbour (the bridge and opera house are just off the right of the photo). It's just like Cardiff Bay, only bigger and with more sunshine ! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Big yellow sail in the middle is on one of the Sydney - Hobart race yachts that are here at the moment, stunningly impressive they are as well.

Certainly found it to be a place I wouldn't mind doing some boating in...

I've been in one, several times.

The biggest problem (apart from me about as useful as a spare prick at a wedding) is the engine's not big enough /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

When the weather's good it is quite relaxing though, I'll concede that

Been there done that! Sydney's an amazing city. Had a 5 day (!!) business trip there. I had an offer to sail at Manly on one of the Saturday races (courtesy of the Captain of the BA flight I took to get over there but that's another story) but it got scuppered by a work colleague who wanted me to drive him around the city instead. Grrr!!!

I'd love to go back again and get out and sail this time, satisfy an unfulfilled ambition. I suspect it will never happen though /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Very envious.

We were in Aus over Christmas the year before last, and I got out on the water to watch the start of the Sydney to Hobart race. Complete mayhem, with hundreds of small craft on the water, many of whom only had a sketchy idea of what they were doing.

Even so, it was great fun:

Mind you, I'd also like to watch the start ashore, from somewhere like North Head - or from a plane /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.
