One for Nanni Users - or those who know engines well...

Well, it's thread drifted onto cam belts, but that wasn't the OP's question, which Solent_Boating has actually tried to answer! Suggest YOU read previous posts!!

Also developed into a No Spares available thread either, so should he even consider the vessel

Personally, I wouldn't with spares being an issue. Still lucky with my 25yr old VP's, but I note even on them some parts are beginning to become obsolete.

I was only seeking your views on Nanni engines - and in particular 4.390 TDI version (toyota based). I am surprised that Nanni would have problems with parts, but that's one more thing for me to consider I suppose...

I went over to see the boat once again (post survey with survey report in my hand, and the broker very keen to see what's written in the survey!!!) and I must admit the survey fee was the best money I have spent this year! (after the RYA course fee of course!)

It has highlighted some machinery/structural/Hull issues which I would have never been able to identify - the engine being only one of the items. The total repair cost is being finalized by a marine engineer, and I have made it clear it will be deducted from the final offer, should I/owner wish to proceed.

no, not brought to my attention, neither being mentioned in the advert - It's probably neither brokers', nor owner's deliberate fault - what has been mentioned needs tools, and someone who really knows what to look for on a specific type of boat - I was surprised why he left a heater on full power in the lazarette and then infrared imaging began after about 15min. He has used thermal infrared imaging - one of the hull defects has been highlighted using this technique! and when you look at it carefully, it does actually exists!

very clever technique. He has paid so much attention to details (maybe a bit too much for a used boat to be honest)
