One for JFM.....

Hi Pete. That's the second underwater drone I've seen this month. Each to their own, but I don't get it. I'd rather take a dive bottle or snorkel and be there in person. Sending a drone on a diving mission is sort of like sending your assistant to go and watch a movie for you or go on a date for you. My feeling is you should either do it yourself or don't do it at all
Completely different from aerial drones for photography, in my book. With scuba diving, you want to be there as I said. With hovering in the air 30m above your boat and your friends, you don't actually want to be there in person. You just want the pictures taken by a machine
I fully understand that others will not share this view, and of course the underwater drone could be used for technical work like prop inspections, I suppose, though I still think a snorkel is more fun. I cannot see any big market for these underwater drones, unlike the huge aerial drone market (dji's enterprise value is now $20bn, I hear)
I have another aerial drone video from the weekend which I'll post tonight or tomorrow
