Hi All

Any thoughts on the following;

The Charge Air Cooler forward end cap has started to leak slightly. I wish to rectify asap as it is above the Starter motor. I beleive this is a common problem on the D4 series. Am i correct , is there a mod and is it a fairly simple job to repair.

Secondly whilst returning along Southampton Water my GPS Signal was lost. I have a C series display connected to a Sea Talk version of the Raymarine 120 GPS sensor. I have checked the GPS status on the C series display, but no signal bars showing. I have also looked at the external interface page, selected seatalk, but nothing is listed. I also have St60 depth and log in Sea Talk format . I assume there must be a problem with the Sea Talk Bus. Any ideas how to try and trace where the fault may be.

Thanks

Keith

REmove the cap and change the o rings.

Check the aerial, it should have 3 lights from memory, red yellow and green, the book will tell you when each of them are lit as to what the status of service is as to wether its the aerial that has a fault.

The signal is seatalk format to your c series, maybe ifyou have an autopilot the cable will go to the ap box and then feeds of seatalk series link to all your instruments which gives lat long speed course etc, id check the wiring and continuity of the cable form the aerial to the ends of the cable first.

If there are no lights on the aerial the power supply has been lost as this system requires min 6 to 32 volts supply for it to work, maybe theres a fuse blown somewhere.

Yes the leaking end caps are a common problem. The plastic ones have now been replaced with bronze. All you can do is keep resealing them or replace them with bronze ones.

Check the oil cooler end cap aswell located just behind the rear oil filter.

You only have lights on the 125 not the 120, check all connections and that you have 12v at the red and screen cable first, if you have then there is a good chance the gps has failed

120 gps aerial

Hi...I have dealt with a lot of Raymarine stuff over the years..and live in Portsmouth..their HQ..anyway...for years the 112 aerial was used..the 120 was only in use for a year or 2...and the 125 was brought out...the one with the light on top..apparently the 120 had a lot of recalls...when they were on for long periods..an internal component warmed up..and they lost position...after 1/2 hour or more ...they cooled down...and worked again..!!The 112 was made in Asia...good kit, the 120 in Scotland........!!!,the 125 in Hungary I think..also good..
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...sad really..!
Regards
