Onan generator fault 13

The filters have been changed. The engineer used his own pump which showed air. Solved. Issues were the same and there was no evidence of lack of fuel so no not yet but he did spend an hour or so on fuel system checking it to begin with so I don't think that is the issue. I will suggest to magic on Monday who are taking a look.

The elbow on top of the fuel tank and the fuel shut off valve are common places to get fuel blockages. Are you absolutely sure these are clear?
 
To close this off.

Spoke with aquatom on the phone and dismantled half the fuel system. No blockages. He took pity on. Me and after a long Saturdays work came to Andraxt to take a peek. He found no blockages but we were getting air in the system. Solved but no different. ��

He thought he had a pcb at the workshop but would not have any actuators.

Half an hour later a text. Have pcb and a shelf of actuators ! Find visiting friend and head in the car to borrow parts.

So which first pcb or actuator. Pcb. Simple to fit. ( it wasn't !) plugged it in and nothing. No lights etc. So either dead or incompatible. Bugger.

Feeling a bit dispondent change it back and remove actuator for the 4 th time ( part is hot and access tricky ) . Bear in mind this is an electromagnet with a plunger. Plunger is clear so just the magnet with is a non mechanical part so I am sceptical this can fail by now.

It worked �� Run for 40 min that night and 1.5 hours today so now I can head back to Ibiza. Bear in mind a decent size all electric boat in the med is not really going anywhere significant without a working generator.

Thanks to aquatom and also ARE who told me what part to change in the first place and helped with numberous pm and text messages. ( but I could not find one in the uk or mallorca until aquatom found a load of them ! )

This is great news,

I assume you got the newer style (all silver) actuator? These give no trouble at all.

No. For reasons aquatom can explain as he chooses they were from 2003 and came from generator voltage conversions at that time. None the less it works ! I actually cannibalised what he had as they were short plungers and just used the electro magnet.

. I would suggest a replacement new style actuator should be on your shopping list for the future as it will play up again.
