This weekend sees lots of action at Bray Marina, with a well thought out event encouraging new boaters onto the River.

Whats in it for you, I hear you ask!?

Well, there's a boat jumble, so please bring along whatever you have, it's like a boot sale, with pitches from £5-10, and if you have nothing to sell, then pop along and see what you can buy.

I will be attending as a BCC representative to explain what the club does for it's members, so do pop along for a chat if you're really really bored... :o

Better than getting something free from Dominic, is knowing that while we're all gently waking up for the weekend, Dominic's going to have to be awake and coherent at 7.40am, as he is being interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire. I'm not sure he knows there's two 7.40's in a day! Of course if you are up, might be worth a listen.

The Bray Cruiser Club clubhouse will be open again tomorrow with a boat jumble, application forms for prospective new members, sales of polo shirts and maybe even tea and coffee if you are really lucky...

I popped round on saturday to see what what going on, before I gave the boat it's (overdue) spring clean. Seemed to be a few people around looking at the boats and I had quick look aboard the Kris Cruisers hire boat, as the boss had mentioned in the week he was interested in a boating holiday. Was actually quite impressed with the condition and layout of the boat.
Did see 'No Regrets' but he was busy with his head down the enviroment agencies launch engine bay, so didn't disturb him.
I would say this 'On the water weekend' seems like a good idea, but not sure how well advertised it was to the non boating community (ie, the ones they are targeting), as only ever saw the email that was sent to us, and just a small sign on the main road.

On a seperate note, we saw that huge wooden boat that looks like noahs ark on the hard at Bray - anyone know anything about that boat - looks like a project and a half!

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to No Regrets for all his help over the weekend, it was a good a weekend very positive. Few things that we have learned from if this is to become an annual event, but over all I think people seemed to enjoy it. One of the things to change would be the weather, a hot sunny weekend would have been lovely!

I believe its a thornycroft which is there for two years whilst being restored by classic restorations

There are several ancient wooden leviathons in long term restoration up at the EA Base next to the Reading Tingdene marina. Little progress
seems to be made over the past few years as far as I have seen. Expensive business this restoration lark. The number of boats rafted into the
navigation at Dennets below Penton Hook appears to be increasing. Starting to look like a nautical graveyard.

Nice to meet so many people to be honest, thanks Sam!

The 'hulk' looks like it'll never float again to me, but hey ho!!
