Hi all

After 7 months of periodically working on our new to us boat we are hopefully launching at the end of next week and taking residency at the Tide Mill Yacht Harbour.

It's amazing how one's plans of buying a boat in August with a view to getting afloat at the end of September go completely out of the window, but all for the best I expect.

So if you see our little Leisure 17 with the red hull and flying the ECF flag please feel free to say hi as we're new to this and the waterways of the area, despite spending a lot of time in Dunwich and the surrounding areas for many, many years.

I am now looking forward to learning so much and exploring so much, but above all giving the kids a great time!

I enjoyed a few years with a L17 on the Alde/Ore. Lovely little boat well suited to the Deben. I am sure you will soon get to know local anchorages and moorings. I have fond memories of weekends to the Ramsholt Arms when conditions were favorable. When you are feeling adventurous you could try a trip to Butley River or even Snape Maltings. I now have a L23sl called Sea Sharp and will be flying the flag, hope to get to wave sometime soon.

Hope you enjoy. I'm in a similar situation. Bought boat last year as a bit of a fixer up, which proved to be bigger than expected. Worked on it all winter and now ready to go. Let's hope we all have lots of fun.

I know, it's amazing how things unravel as soon as one starts. We did an extension to the house a few years ago and discovered halfway through the magic of compression and skyhooks combined with tripling the budget for foundations and steels!

The boat luckily wasn't as bad, just more time than I expected but I was very lucky to have a good friend who was happy to give up a couple of weeks of his time to help out because he had " nothing better to do" !

I hope you get her in the water without any expected " water features " and have great time sailing :)

Thanks Malcolm,

Abrahams Bosom and Orford are definitely on the cards for a visit, as is Southwold.

Do you know if it is possible to overnight at Snape Maltings? Would be nice to take in a summer concert and return to the boat with a glass or two ;)

I'll be looking out for you !
