A forigen yacht was pulled off the rocks near Muxia on the coast of death here in Galicia it was called Odessiya or similar sounded like a German crew there aere 8 on board.Anyway all safe having been pulled off by Spanish lifeboat.Looks like it’s Aluminium as it has a dent in the stem at waterline, they will continue their cruise later. This was on local tv news so no more details there has been a very strong NE/N wind this last week

I am starting on the path of looking at boats and the Dutch aluminium traditional looking ones seem very attractive, I may have to lift my budget a little, unfortunately there are not many / any on the market so it looks like a long wait.
I don’t understand why anyone would choose hull material based upon the risk of a once in a lifetime event in a minuscule percentage of the sailing population.

Aluminium boats bring their own problems and one of these is that the hull can fizz away due to some complex alchemy. Ownership requires a thorough and comprehensive understanding of this process. Hence, unless you happen to have a degree in chemistry I’d suggest that you look elsewhere.
