Been a Musto user for donkeys years. Wife has one of their Windward jackets (apparently just out of warranty) which has all but completely delaminated. Musto aren't interested. Really peeved. So much for customer loyalty.

Now on the hunt for a replacement for her. She'd like, as above if poss, a light fleece with a waterproof outer and a hood. Doesn't need to be oilies weight. A low cut back would be good too.

Can anyone make a recommendation? Would appreciate suggestions as to an alternative.

Thanks for all suggestions. Much appreciated.

Surprisingly, Musto called this morning and offered to send a new jacket of a different model but same spec. Well, I'll be blowed!

Puts them back in my good books anyway.

Southampton is £50-odd each (day return) and 3 hours away from Devon by train but isn't this where boat shows come in handy? There's usually plenty end-of-line heavily discounted stuff in this category, far more so than the name-brand oilies.

(Edit: posted too late!)

Never too late for a good suggestion. Must try to get there. It's been years.

For stuff like this, outdoor/walking shops offer much better value than sailing brands. Far larger market.

There's a test on jackets in the current Yachting Monthly that hit the doormat yesterday, it's probably worth a read, best budget buy is the Tribord Belatu Jacket £39, best mid range SLAM Summer Jacket £85 and Helly Hansen Crew Jacket £100, best premium jacket Helly Hansen April Jacket £200.
